SCAPE Will Be at OC Fair Jul. 16th - Aug. 15th!!

SCAPE has been invited to display and teach Aquaculture at Centennial Farms during the OC Fair.

For those of you who don't know; Centennial Farm is a three-acre working farm at the OC Fair & Event Center created to educate youth about agriculture and its importance to daily life. The Farm is home to fruit and vegetable gardens, livestock, and the Millennium Barn. Children and adults can view pigs, chickens, cattle, goats and more while strolling though gardens of lush vegetation. Centennial Farm offers tours as well as general public hours.

I have put together a deal to display a few tanks in one of the climate controlled buildings during the Fair. The purpose of this display is to promote awareness and knowledge of the science, art, and beauty of planted tanks among both hobbyists and children.

This will be a great opportunity for SCAPE and its' members to promote and teach the hobby. We will need volunteers and three to four tanks to display. I would like at least one immersed setup and one high tech setup.
Each setup will have an information sheet on style/type description, with flora and fauna (if any) listed to aid public and volunteers.
The most important time to have volunteers at the booth is the opening weekend during peek hours. The rest of the fair time is pretty flexible, just need someone there in the middle of peak hours. It is very important to get a volunteer list together asap. As there is a bit of red tape and procedure I need to follow to get your free admission and free parking. For single day volunteers, you will get a single day pass/park. For multi-day volunteers, you will get a multi-week pass/park.

Please post, pm, e-mail or call if you can help out with volunteering or displaying a tank. Even if you don't know exactly what day or times you can make it yet. Just let me know that you can definitely make it and a general idea if you can do a few hours, a few hours on a couple days, or a few hours on multi-days.

We really need membership help-Hadn't really thought about any sponsor help - this display purpose and motives are to create awareness and provide knowledge. If Hikari wants to sponsor a setup that would cool. Or you could volunteer as a member or display a personal setup.
